Notes to accompany Circuit Newsletter of upcoming services & events April 2025
The full Bromsgrove & Redditch Circuit preaching plan for June to August is yet to be produced and will be available from the end of April/early May. We do know there are opportunities arising for us to gather as Circuit and these will be included on that plan. This enclosed summary newsletter/poster, and these accompanying notes come by way of advance notice and an encouragement to get them in your diary and join in where you can.
May 11th, 10.30am, Catshill. As part of this service and with her own consent we will be marking the milestone of Carole Trigger having served as a local preacher for forty years.
June 8th 6pm, Catshill. Easter Offering Service organised and led by the Circuit MWiB representatives. This is an annual Circuit event where the special offerings invited for donated to the World Mission Fund of the Methodist Church in Britain, working with over 100 Partner Churches and organisations around the world, are dedicated. The theme this year is Education for All, Hope for All and offers churches, circuits and districts a moment to consider how education transforms lives and communities, opening God’s promise of hope and fullness of life for all people.
June 15th 3.15pm seated for 3.30pm, Emmanuel Church in the Ecumenical Centre.
Worship Together: Celebrating the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed. A special ecumenical service marking and exploring the drafting of the Nicene Creed. See the separate brochure previously circulated and shared again with this notice for good measure.
July 20th 4pm onwards, the Green House at Barnes Close
Following an invitation at the Circuit Meeting from Rev Helen Lawson of the Green House @ Barnes Close, a visit by the Circuit has been arranged for Sunday 20th July.
Exact details are to be confirmed but provisionally include 4pm: Arrival and explore the site and facilities; 5pm: Picnic tea; 6pm: Worship and Fellowship. If a suitable route can be found some of us might even ramble to the venue beforehand.
Location: off Malthouse Lane, Bromsgrove, B61 0RA. For more details about Barnes close visit their website at www.greenhouseatbarnesclose.org.uk
July 27th 4pm, Catshill. Farewell service for Rev Latika Singh
An opportunity to celebrate and give thanks for Latika’s ministry amongst us and to pray for her and the Circuit as she prepares to take up her new appointment in the Huntingdon & St Neots Circuit. The service will be followed by a buffet tea. More details to follow.
I am aware that the majority of these events are Bromsgrove and Catshill based. Whilst there are good reasons for them being so based, including at the request of organisers and participants, it does require those in the southern part of the service to undertake the most travel in order to participate. We will seek to balance things up for gathered services and events going forward with the majority being held in the other parts of the Circuit.
Further services and gatherings that lie a little further ahead are mentioned below, details to follow in due course.
• Saturday 30th August: launch of new West Midlands District
• Thursday 4th September: Welcome service for Rev Ruth Fry
• Saturday 6th September: Peckwood Forest Space festival
